About MORENIKE

I’m Morenike, a Canadian artist of Nigerian and German heritage. I work with painting and mixed media, exploring different ideas through each collection.

In my fabric work, I’m interested in distress and healing, how history and culture can survive hardship while still carrying its marks. Through divided faces, I explore the different layers we hold within ourselves. Subtle African patterns bring part of my own heritage into these portraits.

I also paint landscapes and wildlife, enjoying the process of observing a subject and finding my own way to express it through colour, shape and texture.
